Tend

Tend is a pet care journal. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. The short version: your data exists so the app can work for you — it is never sold, shared for advertising, or used for anything beyond running Tend.

What we collect

Account information — your email address, and a display name if you provide one, used to create and sign in to your account.
Pet care data you enter — your pets' names and appearance choices, the care activities you log (like walks and meals), your routines and their schedules, streaks, and in-app progress such as levels, coins, and unlocked items.

Tend does not collect your location, contacts, photos, health data, or any advertising identifiers.

How it's used

Your data is used only to provide the app's features: syncing your pets and journal across devices, tracking your routines and streaks, and restoring your history when you sign in. There are no ads, no analytics profiles, and no sale or sharing of personal data with third parties for their own purposes.

Where it's stored

Tend stores your account and pet care data with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), acting as our data processor. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by access rules so that only your signed-in account can read or write your own data. Firebase servers are located in the United States, so your data is processed there regardless of where you live. You can review Google's practices in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

Like most connected services, Firebase temporarily processes technical information such as IP addresses and device identifiers to operate and secure the service (for example, to prevent abuse of sign-in). Tend does not access or store this information itself.

Reminders

If you turn on routine reminders, notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Your routine times are not sent to any notification service — no push servers are involved.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately from the live database. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on the backup provider's standard schedule.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app: Profile → Delete account. This erases your pets, journal, routines, progress, and the account itself. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Children

Tend is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
